But the game is not designed so, that you just download it and start earning some LP to reach the top levels, you have to play unranked games first, so you get to know the game.

In order to start the ranked ladder, you need to get to level 30 first on your account. That is no small task; it can take up to 200+ games to reach it. By the time you get there, you'll have a basic understanding of the game. Starting with 5 vs. AI games, you play with 4 other summoners against bots on the summoners rift. Alternatively, you can try out the 2 other permanent game modes, 3v3 or ARAM, but here I'll talk about the main map, the summoners rift. You decide between yourselves, how goes to what lane, and you grind a few games to unlock PvP game mode, where the real fun begins. With the PvP mode unlocked, you have the option to play agains real enemies, who will proove to be a much bigger challenge than the bots, but eventually you'll get to level 30. That's where the whole point of the game will start to kick in.

You'll be faced with 10 placement matches to play. These 10 games will decide what rank you'll be starting in the season, so you must concentrate on them. The general ladder is divided into 9 divisions, each 4 tiers (except the top ones): Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, Challenger. You'll be dropped into one of these after playing the 10 placement games. Note that these games will be significantly harder than before lvl 30. Once you are dropped into a division, you'll be able to start earning LP. With each win, you'll win some LP, with each loss, you'll lose some. Depending on the % of the recent games won, you'll be able to earn more for each victory, or lose more for each defeat. In each tier, you can reach up to 100 LP (excerpt the top tiers). Once you reach it, you'll be able to play your promotiaonal games. In most cases, it consists of 3 games: You need to win to to proceed to the next tier. If you are for example Silver I, and in promotion games for Gold IV, you'll have to go trough 5 games, winning 3 of them (if you win 3 before, you don't need to play the rest). Once you succeed, yoU'll be promoted to the next division or tier, making your progress to get to challenger.

Remember, that getting higher ranks will not only make your teammates better at the game, but your enemies harder to defeat!
